Judy was a contract performer for MGM.
**
Her first movie: "PIGSKIN PARADE"
made in 1936
**
Her father died when she was 12.
**
She began seeing a psychiatrist
at age 18.
**
She is quoted as saying,
" As for my
feelings toward
'Over the Rainbow'
it's become part of my life. It is so
symbolic of all my dreams and wishes,
that I'm sure that's why people
sometimes get tears in their eyes when
they hear it."
**
Judy filmed Babes in Arms with
MGM after Oz, in which
she starred with
Margaret Hamilton again
**
She went on a personal
appearance
tour after Oz, to help
promote the movie
**
She was called back in
May 1939 for retakes of a
few shots - mainly with Billie Burke
**
Judy appeared Sept. 24, 1955,
on the Ford Star Jubilee,
on CBS, although she
had laryngitis
**
She was present on
Aug. 30, 1939, at the
Harvest Moon Ball in
Madison Square Garden
**
From Aug. 31 - Sept. 6, 1939,
Judy performed together
with Lahr and Bolger
at the Capital
**
Judy made 32 films,
starred in her own TV series,
sang in over 1,000 concerts.
**
She was in her 5th marriage (3 weeks
married) when she died from a drug overdose. She was 47.
