Jack Haley
Aug. 10, 1899 to June 6, 1979
Real Name: John Joseph Haley
**
Jack was a devout catholic.
He once was honored
by the Pope
**
He said in 1939, "When
you're playing
for kids, you're
playing for the toughest
audience
in the world. The
grown people
look at it
just to be entertained,
but the kids look at it...
to believe it!"
**
He promoted Oz
in the fall of 1939,
in between his own stage shows at Loew's State
**
Jack returned to
20th Century Fox and his
regular radio duties
when he completed Oz
**
Jack lived in Beverly Hills
**
He died when he was 80
